Male Female Relationships In The Bible
The first mention of relationships that involved conceiving a child, we all know what that is, was with Adam and Eve. Genesis 4:1 (KJV) And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare Cain, and said, I have gotten a man from the LORD. The word used is "knew". I was taught this when I was an older teen. I was also taught this as we were old enough to know mom and dad legally married after mom had conceived. So in God's eyes they were married at that moment. Government law does not work that way.
The other mention in Old Testament is with the word "lie" now most think the word is telling a falsehood. It is also used for laying with a woman. She might not get PG but the meaning is the same. There is much more on this topic word, and you have to remember a man could have more than one wife. Not really so for the woman. This is a verse regarding lying with. Exodus 22:16 (KJV) And if a man entice a maid that is not betrothed, and lie with her, he shall surely endow her to be his wife. Plus, there is Abram who was faithful to Sari who could bare no children, she it was that gave her servant to Abram to wife. Typically, it is the man that seeks another wife. For the Jewish faith, they ensure before a ceremony that the woman to be married is still a virgin, This is known as God has placed a seal on the canal, is a membrane, that is broken when you lie with someone that is a virgin, should this not happen as there is blood then that girl has slept with other men, prior to marriage.
Yeshua's Dealing With Marriage
Did Yeshua mention this in any way? Yes to me He did with the woman at the well. Yeshua told her to go get her husband, she said she had no husband, He agreed meaning she was not legally married to me. He said the one she was with was not her husband, but that she had had five husbands. Her reply was not that she had married that many times, but that He knew all she ever had done. To me meaning she had slept with 5 different men. It is a good read you should read the story about it as it was her Yeshua told he was the Messiah and He stayed there 2 days. So Yeshua's first stop for teaching the lost tribes of Israel, were the son's of Joseph not accepted by the Jewish people.
How do you think they knew with the birth of Yeshua, that Mary was a virgin? I am sure she was checked and the membrane never broken. Yet here she was pregnant and God gave Joseph a dream to stay with her, It wouldn't surprise me that she was checked again late in her pregnancy to make sure Joseph had had no relations with her. There were people that believed this so would make sure. The interesting thing is that I am working backwards to answer a grandson's question about finding a girlfriend and one to marry.
